Vayelech /And He Went

Shabbat Shalom!

Welcome to Parasha Vayelech /And He Went, this week’s Torah portion.

Torah Reading

Deuteronomy 31:1–30;

31 Moshe went and spoke the following words to all Isra’el: 2 “I am 120 years old today. I can’t get around any longer; moreover, YAHUVEH has said to me, ‘You will not cross this Yarden.’ 3 YAHUVEH your ELOHIM — he will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy these nations ahead of you, and you will dispossess them. Y’hoshua — he will cross over ahead of you, as YAHUVEH has said. (LY: ii) 4 YAHUVEH will do to them what he did to Sichon and ‘Og, the kings of the Emori, and to their land — he destroyed them. 5 YAHUVEH will defeat them ahead of you, and you are to do to them just as I have ordered you to do. 6 Be strong, be bold, don’t be afraid or frightened of them, for YAHUVEH your ELOHIM is going with you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

(RY: v, LY: iii) 7 Next Moshe summoned Y’hoshua and, in the sight of all Isra’el, said to him, “Be strong, be bold, for you are going with this people into the land YAHUVEH swore to their ancestors he would give them. You will be the one causing them to inherit it. 8 But YAHUVEH — it is he who will go ahead of you. He will be with you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you, so don’t be afraid or downhearted.”

9 Then Moshe wrote down this Torah and gave it to the cohanim, the descendants of Levi who carried the ark with the covenant of YAHUVEH, and to all the leaders of Isra’el. (LY: iv) 10 Moshe gave them these orders: “At the end of every seven years, during the festival of Sukkot in the year of sh’mittah, 11 when all Isra’el have come to appear in the presence of YAHUVEH at the place he will choose, you are to read this Torah before all Isra’el, so that they can hear it. 12 Assemble the people — the men, the women, the little ones and the foreigners you have in your towns — so that they can hear, learn, fear YAHUVEH your ELOHIM and take care to obey all the words of this Torah; 13 and so that their children, who have not known, can hear and learn to fear YAHUVEH your ELOHIM, for as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Yarden to possess.”

(RY: vi, LY: v) 14 YAHUVEH said to Moshe, “The time is coming for you to die. Summon Y’hoshua, and present yourselves in the tent of meeting, so that I can commission him.” Moshe and Y’hoshua went and presented themselves in the tent of meeting. 15 YAHUVEH appeared in the tent in a column of cloud; the column of cloud stood above the entrance to the tent. 16 YAHUVEH said to Moshe, “You are about to sleep with your ancestors. But this people will get up and offer themselves as prostitutes to the foreign ELOHIMs of the land where they are going. When they are with those ELOHIMs, they will abandon me and break my covenant which I have made with them. 17 Then my anger will flare up, and I will abandon them and hide my face from them. They will be devoured, and many calamities and troubles will come upon them. Then they will ask, ‘Haven’t these calamities come upon us because our ELOHIM isn’t here with us?’ 18 But I will be hiding my face from them because of all the evil they will have done in turning to other ELOHIMs.

19 “Therefore, write this song for yourselves, and teach it to the people of Isra’el. Have them learn it by heart, so that this song can be a witness for me against the people of Isra’el. (RY: vii, LY: vi) 20 For when I have brought them into the land I swore to their ancestors, flowing with milk and honey; and they have eaten their fill, grown fat and turned to other ELOHIMs, serving them and despising me, and broken my covenant; 21 then, after many calamities and troubles have come upon them, this song will testify before them as a witness, because their descendants will still be reciting it and will not have forgotten it. For I know how they think even now, even before I have brought them into the land about which I swore.” 22 So Moshe wrote this song that same day and taught it to the people of Isra’el.

23 YAHUVEH also commissioned Y’hoshua the son of Nun with these words: “Be strong and full of courage; for you are to bring the people of Isra’el into the land about which I swore to them; and I will be with you.”

24 Moshe kept writing the words of this Torah in a book until he was done. When he had finished, (LY: vii) 25 Moshe gave these orders to the L’vi’im who carried the ark with the covenant of YAHUVEH: 26 “Take this book of the Torah and put it next to the ark with the covenant of YAHUVEH your ELOHIM, so that it can be there to witness against you. 27 For I know how rebellious and stiffnecked you are! Here, even while I am still alive with you today, you have rebelled against YAHUVEH; so how much more will you do so after my death? (Maftir) 28 Assemble for me all the leaders of your tribes and your officials, so that I can say these things in their hearing, calling heaven and earth to witness against them — 29 because I know that after my death you will become very corrupt and turn aside from the way that I have ordered you, and that disaster will come upon you in the acharit-hayamim, because you will do what YAHUVEH sees as evil and provoke him by your deeds.”

30 Then Moshe spoke in the hearing of the whole assembly of Isra’el the words of this song, from beginning to end:

Prophetic Reading

Hosea 14:1 (2)–9 (10);

(1) Return, Isra’el, to YAHUVEH your ELOHIM,
for your guilt has made you stumble.
3
(2) Take words with you, and return to YAHUVEH;
say to him, “Forgive all guilt,
and accept what is good;
we will pay instead of bulls
[the offerings of] our lips.
4
(3) Ashur will not save us,
we will not ride on horses,
and we will no longer call
what we made with our hands our gods.
For it is only in you
that the fatherless can find mercy.”

5
(4) “I will heal their disloyalty,
I will love them freely;
for my anger has turned from him.
6
(5) I will be like dew to Isra’el;
he will blossom like a lily
and strike roots like the L’vanon.
7
(6) His branches will spread out,
his beauty be like an olive tree
and his fragrance like the L’vanon.
8
(7) Again they will live in his shade and raise grain;
they will blossom like a vine,
and its aroma will be
like the wine of the L’vanon.
9
(8) Efrayim [will say], ‘What have I
to do any more with idols?’
And I, I answer and affirm him;
I am like a fresh, green cypress tree;
your fruitfulness comes from me.”
10
(9) Let the wise understand these things,
and let the discerning know them.
For the ways of YAHUVEH are straight,
And the righteous walk in them,
but in them sinners stumble.

Joel 2:15–27;

“Blow the shofar in Tziyon!
Proclaim a holy fast,
call for a solemn assembly.”

16
Gather the people; consecrate the congregation;
assemble the leaders; gather the children,
even infants sucking at the breast;
let the bridegroom leave his room
and the bride the bridal chamber.
17
Let the cohanim, who serve YAHUVEH,
stand weeping between the vestibule and the altar.
Let them say, “Spare your people, YAHUVEH!
Don’t expose your heritage to mockery,
or make them a byward among the Goyim.
Why should the peoples say, ‘Where is their ELOHIM?’”

18
Then YAHUVEH will become jealous for his land
and have pity on his people.
19
Here is how YAHUVEH will answer his people:
“I will send you grain, wine and olive oil,
enough to satisfy you;
and no longer will I make you
a mockery among the Goyim.
20
No, I will take the northerner away,
far away from you,
and drive him to a land
that is waste and barren;
with his vanguard toward the eastern sea
and his rearguard toward the western sea,
his stench and his rottenness will rise,
because he has done great things.”

21
Don’t fear, O soil; be glad! rejoice!
for YAHUVEH has done great things.
22
Don’t be afraid, wild animals;
for the desert pastures are green,
the trees are putting out their fruit,
the fig tree and vine are giving full yield.
23
Be glad, people of Tziyon!
rejoice in YAHUVEH your ELOHIM!
For he is giving you
the right amount of rain in the fall,
he makes the rain come down for you,
the fall and spring rains — this is what he does first.
24
Then the floors will be full of grain
and the vats overflow with wine and olive oil.

25
“I will restore to you the years that the locusts ate,
the grasshoppers, shearer-worms and cutter-worms,
my great army that I sent against you.
26
You will eat until you are satisfied
and will praise the name of YAHUVEH your ELOHIM,
who has done with you such wonders.
Then my people will never again be shamed.
27
You will know that I am with Isra’el
and that I am YAHUVEH your ELOHIM,
and that there is no other.
Then my people will never again be shamed.

Micah 7:18–20;

Who is a ELOHIM like you,
pardoning the sin and overlooking the crimes
of the remnant of his heritage?
He does not retain his anger forever,
because he delights in grace.
19
He will again have compassion on us,
he will subdue our iniquities.
You will throw all their sins
into the depths of the sea.
20
You will show truth to Ya‘akov
and grace to Avraham,
as you have sworn to our ancestors
since days of long ago.

Isaiah 55:6–56:8;

Seek YAHUVEH while he is available,
call on him while he is still nearby.
7
Let the wicked person abandon his way
and the evil person his thoughts;
let him return to YAHUVEH,
and he will have mercy on him;
let him return to our ELOHIM,
for he will freely forgive.

8
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
and your ways are not my ways,” says YAHUVEH.
9
“As high as the sky is above the earth
are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10
For just as rain and snow fall from the sky
and do not return there, but water the earth,
causing it to bud and produce,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11
so is my word that goes out from my mouth —
it will not return to me unfulfilled;
but it will accomplish what I intend,
and cause to succeed what I sent it to do.”

12
Yes, you will go out with joy,
you will be led forth in peace.
As you come, the mountains and hills
will burst out into song,
and all the trees in the countryside
will clap their hands.
13
Cypresses will grow in place of thorns,
myrtles will grow instead of briars.
This will bring fame to YAHUVEH
as an eternal, imperishable sign.

56 Here is what YAHUVEH says:

“Observe justice, do what is right,
for my salvation is close to coming,
my righteousness to being revealed.”
2
Happy is the person who does this,
anyone who grasps it firmly,
who keeps Shabbat and does not profane it,
and keeps himself from doing any evil.

3
A foreigner joining YAHUVEH should not say,
“YAHUVEH will separate me from his people”;
likewise the eunuch should not say,
“I am only a dried-up tree.”

4
For here is what YAHUVEH says:
“As for the eunuchs who keep my Shabbats,
who choose what pleases me
and hold fast to my covenant:
5
in my house, within my walls,
I will give them power and a name
greater than sons and daughters;
I will give him an everlasting name
that will not be cut off.

6
“And the foreigners who join themselves to YAHUVEH
to serve him, to love the name of YAHUVEH,
and to be his workers,
all who keep Shabbat and do not profane it,
and hold fast to my covenant,
7
I will bring them to my holy mountain
and make them joyful in my house of prayer;
their burnt offerings and sacrifices
will be accepted on my altar;
for my house will be called
a house of prayer for all peoples.”
8
YAHUVEH Elohim says,
he who gathers Isra’el’s exiles:
“There are yet others I will gather,
besides those gathered already.”

Romans 10:14–21;

14 But how can they call on someone if they haven’t trusted in him? And how can they trust in someone if they haven’t heard about him? And how can they hear about someone if no one is proclaiming him? 15 And how can people proclaim him unless ELOHIM sends them? — as the Tanakh puts it, “How beautiful are the feet of those announcing good news about good things!”[a]

16 The problem is that they haven’t all paid attention to the Good News and obeyed it. For Yesha‘yahu says,

“YAHUVEH, who has trusted what he has heard from us?”[b]

17 So trust comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through a word proclaimed about the Messiah.

18 “But, I say, isn’t it rather that they didn’t hear?” No, they did hear —

“Their voice has gone out throughout the whole world
and their words to the ends of the earth.”[c]

19
“But, I say, isn’t it rather that Isra’el didn’t understand?”

“I will provoke you to jealousy over a non-nation,
over a nation void of understanding I will make you angry.”[d]

20
Moreover, Yesha‘yahu boldly says,

“I was found by those who were not looking for me,
I became known to those who did not ask for me”;[e]

21
but to Isra’el he says,

“All day long I held out my hands
to a people who kept disobeying and contradicting.”

AmightyWind Prophecies;

This is from Prophecy 105, YAHUVEH said to put this up on all Prophecies from now on: I warned you a long time ago Elisabeth (Elisheva) not to name this Ministry after a man or a woman even before there was a Ministry. I put it in your spirit for none of this has been done by your hand, none of this has come forth from your mouth. It is from the Mouth of YAHUVEH that has given birth. It is from the Mouth of YAHUSHUA your MASHIACH that has given birth. It is from the Mouth of the RUACH ha KODESH your IMMAYAH that has given birth. If it had only been by your hand it would have failed long ago. It is by the SHKHINYAH GLORY’S Wind that blows across this earth, the Holy Wind of Revival, it is not by your breath or it would have failed. (Isaiah 42:8)

Torah Portion: Succession Planning: Moses and Joshua
Prophecy 134 I, YAHUSHUA Take You To A New Elevation of Your Faith!
Now MY children I take your faith to a new level. See yourself on an elevator. See yourself where you first began. And the closer you get to Heaven, I take you to a new floor, a new elevation of your faith. I AM teaching each of you. I AM YOUR INDIVIDUAL TEACHER. Each one of you have MY Ear, have MY Eye. All you have to do is surrender your lives to ME and say, “I do not want to do this my way.”
I know each one of your fears. You cannot hide them from ME, so you might as well confess them so I can alleviate those fears. There is no shame in fear unless it stops you from doing what I have told you to do. There is no shame in grief, unless it stops you from doing what I have told you to do.

I have given you all your jobs. You call it a “job.” I call it a “calling.” But I’ve laid out the plans as a blueprint for your life. Some of you cannot see the blueprint clearly yet. It takes an expert to read a blueprint.

But through your faith you will read that blueprint. Through your faith you will hear MY voice. Through your faith you will see through MY eyes. For there is not one sacrifice that you do unto MY Glory―[that] as it is found pleasing unto ME as a sweet fragrance to MY Nostrils, you will be rewarded. This reward shall follow you to Heaven.
Oh how much I love you […]! Oh how much I long for MY Bride! I could offer you a billion dollar palace on this earth and if you had your choice, you would say, “YOU can keep it YAHUSHUA! I just want my Heavenly palace to behold YOUR Face, to walk on the streets of gold, to be surrounded by Holiness.”

Hang on MY children! Hang on MY children for just a little while! Hang on MY babies! Hang on MY Bride! It’s not long now you’ll be by MY Side! Just do what I’ve called you to do for the time is shorter than short! Keep feeding MY sheep and lambs so they will not wander off.

[…] You wonder where you’re going to get all this time. Allow ME to give you that plan. All of you I tell you this, do not fall into the sin of assumption and assuming you know what I’m doing.

There’s one thing you will know, the plans I’ve made for you are only for your good and I will not let evil touch you.
Torah Portion: Sin, Repentance and the Glory of YAHUVEH
Prophecy 119: 2011 A Call To Repent Or Perish, YAH Has Your Number!
Foolish, foolish ones, I look at your life and I shake MY head. You are the ones if you do not repent and truly turn away from sin, you are the ones I’ll say away from ME you workers of iniquity for I have never known you. Just because you said a salvation prayer you must put action behind your words, you can not just say that you love ME and not obey ME. This is a lie straight from hell. This is a lie and because this Ministry is the one who tells you and every Ministry that walks in MY holiness that refuses to compromise with sin and with sinners. You who call yourselves the Christians there is no holiness in you and you despise anyone who comes to you with the Spirit of Holiness and with MY anointing upon their face and it’s not changed from times of old. You despise anyone who speaks MY Words, who are anointed and bold and so I’ve given Elisabeth [Elisheva] a sign as you go very soon into what you call another year. There has been a call to repent and oh, how few, how few are listening or even hear the telephone ringing.

Don’t you yet understand? Don’t you yet understand? The only way into heaven you must answer the call. You must hear that telephone ring. You must answer the call to repent and turn away from sin, stop making excuses because soon it’s going to be too late.

The harshest judgment is going to come on those who have mistreated this Ministry that I have placed at a media with so many eyes and ears and you’ve known about it and you’ve not defended it and you’ve hated her words because I shouted loud and clear REPENT, REPENT and turn away from your sins.

You’ll pick apart the prophecies and use your own human intellect although I’ve warned again and again it’s only by the Holy Spirit you’ll understand the Words that are spoken are not to be interpreted by the intellect of man. Each Prophecy without exception leads people to repent. Lead people into MY loving arms. Leads people and teaches them Holiness. They are not the Words of a woman or a man. I only use this vessel of clay, the very one you have hated and abused, you’ve said we will destroy you, we will humiliate, we will speak our words of hate because we can. We will even steal and defile the very name of the Ministry Amightywind because you dare to call us sinners and you dare to expose our sin because we can not stand the Holiness on your face or the faces of the workers that work by your side, so we tell everyone to make sure they too despise and do not listen to the Holy Prophecies for they are false and so you blind them oh you hypocrites and so you deafen them.

Oh you reprobates, I will show you what I do because of your hate. There is no Holy Spirit within you. You are satan’s spawn and I have been patient with you for oh so long. I put the Last Chance Ministry before the coming days of doom and remember, what you’ve done to her you’ve done unto ME. You shall stand before ME in a Court of Law that comes from heaven and you’ll stand before MY face and I’ll remind you of your words of hate and I’ll say, depart from Me you workers of iniquity for I have never known you, I have never known you. My Holy Spirit either withdrew long ago or never was even in you.

So Elisabeth [Elisheva], I let you hear the telephone. I let you hear how long it’s been ringing, just a symbol of it, 8 times. Some will listen and it will be their new beginning and they truly will repent and they will truly know that Amightywind Ministry is Holy and it’s a Ministry that is God sent.

To all of those who will humble themselves turn away from their sins and with their mind, body, heart and soul they will truly, truly repent. They will truly, truly repent. These are the Words I have to say, you answer that call, oh Holy Ones of repentance, each and every day. Even you Elisabeth [Elisheva], you said, what is it that I have not answered? How is it I have not repented? Oh please forgive me anyway I fail you for I know I am not perfect. I said unto you, Elisabeth [Elisheva] it’s not you for you hear MY ring and you answered MY call and all those who minister by your side and all those who know that Amightywind Ministry speaks forth the truth and has not lied. They’ve answered the call to repent, but then there are some who know the truths are in this Ministry and yet, they test ME and they believe it’s just enough to know you. They believe it’s just enough to read the Prophecies. They believe I’m always going to have mercy and there’ll be no consequences to sin. These are the ones I’m going to judge most heavy for they do not realize they are held accountable for the sins that I despise.

So tell them MY Daughter, they want a new Word to come forth. Tell them how pleased I am to those that go the extra mile, who not only strive to obey ME each day, but believe and speak and share the Words I say. They are not afraid of offending a man for their soul desire is pleasing ME YAHUSHUA, for they know their rewards will come from Heaven.

So tell them MY Daughter, you be that Elijah of New [in Hebrew, Eliyahu] that I’ve given you the anointing and a job to do.

Tell them MY Daughter, though they will spit in your face, you warn them MY Daughter, very soon they’ll be wiped off the human race.

Tell them MY Daughter, oh I’m coming again. I’m coming again, but this time it shall be with fire in MY eyes and I’m not talking about when I call MY Bride to MY side, I’m talking about the enemies who are as that fig tree I shall curse it and it will wither and die for all to see.
Prophecy 106 I, YAHUVEH, Say, “CLEAN YOUR HOUSE”!!!
I told you that in 2009 anything and everything that can be shaken will be shaken. Do not stand amazed Elisabeth [Elisheva] for you are going to see those that you call the YDS’ shaken, we will see just how firmly they are of ME, we will see how many want to pay the price to be called MY Bride. We will see as you have seen what happens in New Zealand. It is easy, it is so easy when there is no testing, it is so easy to say, thy will be done oh YAHUVEH. When MY will though goes against your will, will you still say, thy will be done oh YAHUVEH?

To those who refuse to walk holy, even to those by MY own hand I put together, by MY own hand I shall divide. Not only in this household do I speak forth but to all those who claim they belong to ME. (Luke 12:51-53) Do you want to be left in the Great Tribulation? Do you want to go to hell or do you want to obey ME? I can’t make it any simpler than that. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of YAHUVEH, to know that you are nothing but dust and by MY mercy I took that dust and created a man and I breathed into that man. (Psalm 111:10)

Do not grieve the RUACH ha KODESH, do not grieve your IMMAYAH. Do not test ME no (any) longer for this Minstry is a Ministry of Holiness. (Acts 5:9)

In the very midst of the YDS’, that which I reveal in New Zealand exposing the evil that was hidden, so too I shall do by those who claim they want to be part of this Holy Ministry. They are part of this Holy Ministry, but you see it is as you said beloved son Sylvester, on the surface it looks like it is so. As long as the leadership doesn’t know we can do what we want to do in secret, but I warn you, those that I have called the YDS’, those that have been invited to the YDS forum to fellowship, you are held more accountable.

Be assured in 2009 whatever was hidden shall be revealed. (Matthew 10:26) Whatever sin you think you have hidden, by the anointing of the RUACH ha KODESH it shall be revealed. For MY Word is true and in these endtimes the evil is growing more evil but MY Holy must grow more Holy and anyone who has a form of Holiness but no Holiness within shall be exposed. I will not allow them to be part of this Ministry. I will not allow it. (Ecclesiastes 12:14) So now it is your choice, who do you really choose to serve? The evil of this world? Or the Holiness of Heaven? So you see I have another reason Elisabeth [Elisheva] that you are to go to your sons.

MY Beloved Son, this is nothing that I can’t forgive but you must choose, you must choose this day. For that biological sister and that biological father only want to take you to hell with them.

I’m shaking this entire world. Judgment starts at MY house. (I Peter 4:17) Holiness will only desire Holiness. Sin must be kicked out. A repentant spirit is not someone who only repents with their mouth, it is someone that repents with their head and their heart and determined not to displease ME. I told you, (this world) you are on the verge of a holocaust. Do you want ME to hide you? Do you want ME to protect you? Do you want ME to bless you? For no enemy can pluck you out of YAHUVEH’s hand, or do you want ME to SMASH YOU? Do you want ME to CRUSH YOU? Do you want ME to BREAK YOU? Do you want ME by MY own hand to cast you into the flames of hell?

Do you want ME to love you? Do you want ME to comfort you? Do you want ME to mentor you? What do you really want? Do you want to be like Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego as they walked and were tossed in the fiery furnace? (Daniel 3) Yet, I did not even allow that which bound them to be burned. I did not allow their clothes to be singed, their own clothes that bound them for you see it was the enemies that got burned up. It was only that which tied and bound their hands that was burned up. Do you want to be like a Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego? That walked in the fiery furnace but the 4th man was there and that 4th man is YAHUSHUA your MASHIACH.

Do you want to be as Daniel when he was thrown in the lions den? He was not eaten though the lions were ravenous. (Daniel 6) It’s your choice. Do you want MY protection? Do you want to be like the widow of Zarephath? (I Kings 17:10) The one I sent the Elijah of Old too. When it comes down to your last morsel of bread, do you want ME to multiply it for you, so you will never go hunger? So you will live to Glorify ME.

In this year how man marks time, they say it is 2009. You see I don’t only ask these questions to you, I ask these questions to all those that believe the Truth comes forth from this Ministry and that I speak forth. What do you want ME to do? Do you want ME to open the Red Sea again so you can safely cross over as the enemies pursue you? (Exodus 15:4) Do you want these enemies to be drown so they can not harm you? What do you want ME to do?

I am YAHUVEH, and by your actions will be the amount of (your) protection. I am not playing games. Do you want to hide under the shelter of MY wings as psalm 91 says? You say you love ME and I only speak to those who say they love ME. I only speak to those who say they are washed in the shed Blood of YAHUSHUA your MASHIACH, MY only begotten Son. I do not speak this forth to the heathen whose names are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. You’re only fit for judgment. You’re only fit for hell. You are reprobate. You’re rejected silver.

But I speak to those now in the year you mark as 2009, CLEAN YOUR HOUSE! Your house is the Temple of the RUACH ha KODESH (I Corinthians 6:19). Your house is the physical as well as the spiritual. Anything that offends ME, throw it out. I speak out of this Elijah of New [in Hebrew, Eliyahu] and I speak the words Elijah of Old [in Hebrew, Eliyahu] spoke, choose ye this day which God you shall serve. Repent and fall on your faces before ME, but I do not want only the words I want to see action behind those words. Faith without works is dead. (James 2:20) I no longer want to hear excuses. I have had enough of your excuses on why you sin. What kind of example are you?

If the world of the reprobate would hold a trial today, would there be enough evidence that you serve ME? That you bring souls to YAHUSHUA. That you live Holy for ME. Would you have to say, “I plead guilty to all of these things” because that is what I expect. Are you willing to lay your life down for YAHUSHUA as HE was willing to lay HIS life down for you?

Why is (are) your eyes on the things of the flesh such as pornography?

Do you not know that it is the proud that is cast down. Pride goeth before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18) Oh how many of you who will hear this and read this are so puffed up with pride and say, “Oh I shall not be moved, when YAH shakes this world in 2009 I shall not be shaken”. It is by the mercy and the Blood of YAHUSHUA alone that you will not be shaken and it depends on what you’ve done. (Colossians 1:13-20) Do you have secret sin? Do you think no one knows? MY eyes go to and fro. I see into your very heart. I know who is truly Holy. I know who is playing games at Holiness and I know who doesn’t even try and just make excuses for their sins.

I know what you want ME to do and now I have told you what I expect of you. Avoid ALL unholiness as if it were the plague for you are surrounded with it. But I remind you of the children of Israel and I remind you of the plagues and I remind you of how it did not come upon the children of Israel. It only came upon MY enemies. Hide yourselves in the robes of MY righteousness. Hide yourselves from MY wrath. For those that I call MY children if you will but strive to obey and truly, truly repent and turn away from evil. I shall hide you. I shall comfort you. I shall Bless you. I shall provide for you. I shall anoint you, if you will but just obey every word I say and stop making excuses for sin.

Teaching

VAYELECH /And He Went

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for YAHUVEH your GOD, HE is the One who goes with you.  HE will not leave you nor forsake you.”
(Deuteronomy 31:6)

Last week, in Parasha Nitzavim, YAHUVEH emphasized that we have freedom of choice to follow after the way of life or the way of death.

In this week’s Torah portion, Vayelech (וַיֵּלֶךְ)—Hebrew for then he went out—Moses invests Joshua with leadership and initiates the writing down of the Torah.

Vayelech is the shortest Torah reading of the year, consisting of only one chapter.

The reading for this particular Sabbath, which comes after Rosh Ha Shanah /Yom Teruah and before the Day of Atonement /Yom Kippur, falls during the Ten Days of Awe /Yamim Nora’im during which time we are to seek YAHUVEH with sincere teshuvah /repentance for our sins.

This special Shabbat is called Shabbat Shuva /Sabbath of Return because the special prophetic reading from the Book of Hosea starts with Shuvu Yisrael /Return O Israel.

It is also called Shabbat Teshuvah /Shabbat of Repentance as it calls the people of YAHUVEH to turn from their sins and rebellion and to return /shuv to YAHUVEH.

Shabbat Shuva actually has two special Haftarah readings. Hosea 14:1(2)–9(10) emphasizes the importance of heartfelt repentance, and Micah 7:18–20 praises YAHUVEH’s mercy.

Succession Planning: Moses and Joshua

“Then Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel.  And he said to them: ‘I am one hundred and twenty years old today.  I can no longer go out and come in.  Also YAHUVEH has said to me, “You shall not cross over this Jordan.”
(Deuteronomy 31:1–2)

In this Parasha, Moses faces his imminent death.  At the age of 120 years, he prepares his people for a future without his leadership.

Moses knows that he will not be the one to take the children of Israel across the Jordan River into the Promised Land.

Although Moses would not go with the people, he assures them that YAHUVEH will go with them and give them victory against their enemies.

YAHUVEH also gives a word to the people of Israel through Moses: “Be strong and of good courage.”

Why did they need this encouragement?

It is because in the Promised Land they would be facing new enemies and challenges that they had never encountered in the wilderness.

They would also need to learn how to work the land instead of having manna rain down each day from Heaven.

Moses, however, was not about to leave the people leaderless, like sheep without a shepherd.  He ordained Joshua as his successor to take over the leadership role.

“Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, ‘Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which YAHUVEH has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it.’”  (Deuteronomy 31:7)

Moses gave us a beautiful example of someone who knew how to exit his position of prominence with grace and dignity.  He knew when it was time to step down.

He not only passed on the torch to the next generation without any display of resentment or hurt feelings, he also publicly bestowed blessings, encouragement, and affirmation upon the one who would take his place “in the sight of all Israel.”

Joshua ben Nun of the tribe of Ephraim was groomed for this leadership role.

He was a skilled military leader of the campaign against Amalek (Exodus 17:8–13) and loyal disciple of Moses.  He was also the first to greet Moses after patiently waiting 40 days for him to descend from Mount Sinai (Exodus 32:15–17).

It seems that Moses made a wise decision in choosing Joshua even over his two sons Gershom and Eliezer—for Joshua followed YAHUVEH’s directions, trusting HIM to successfully lead the children of Israel into the Promised Land.

As a result, Joshua conquered Jericho and eventually the rest of Canaan.

We, too, when embarking upon a new venture, need to have the strength and courage to trust that YAHUVEH will be with us to help us overcome every challenge and to meet every need.

“Through YAHUVEH we will do valiantly, and it is HE who shall tread down our adversaries.”  (Psalm 60:12)

Moreover, people may come and go in our lives, but YAHUVEH is the faithful One who will never abandon us.

We may come to depend upon people, even those who are capable, strong, spiritual leaders, but ultimately we need to trust that it is YAHUVEH who will be our “ever-present help in times of trouble.  Therefore we will not fear.”  (Psalm 46:1–2)

Succession Planning and the Torah

Succession in this Parasha was not only about leadership. Moses ensured that the people had what they needed to bring them into the future.

He wrote down the Torah and commanded the Israelites to read it every seven years in the year of the Shemitah Sabbatical year at the time of Sukkot Feast of Tabernacles.

Moses entrusted the safekeeping of this Torah into the hands of the sons of Aaron who were the Cohanim /Jewish Priests as well as all the Levites, who were charged with carrying the Ark of the Covenant, among other duties.

In this way, the Torah was to be taught and handed down to generation after generation so that they would fear YAHUVEH and keep HIS commandments.

We also have a responsibility to teach the Word of YAHUVEH to our children—that they may teach their children and so on down the generations—to fear YAHUVEH and obey HIS Word.

“Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear YAHUVEH your GOD and carefully observe all the words of this law, and that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear YAHUVEH your GOD as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess.”  (Deuteronomy 31:12–13)

The responsibility to diligently teach our children the Torah is still taken seriously today by much of the Jewish People, based on the command:

“Hear, O Israel: YAHUVEH our GOD, YAHUVEH is one!  You shall love YAHUVEH your GOD with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”  (Deuteronomy 6:4–7)

Passing on our faith in YAHUVEH to our children is not the job of the youth ministry teacher once a week during congregation services; it is meant to be a lifestyle of living out faith and obedience in front of our children, as well as talking about YAHUVEH and HIS Word throughout the day—every day.

Sin, Repentance and the Glory of YAHUVEH

In this Parasha, we come to realize that YAHUVEH knew that despite all HIS warnings, the people of Israel would go astray and commit spiritual adultery by seeking after other gods and worshiping the idols of the pagans around them in the Promised Land.

“And YAHUVEH said to Moses: ‘Behold, you will rest with your fathers; and this people will rise and play the harlot with the gods of the foreigners of the land, where they go to be among them, and they will forsake ME and break MY covenant which I have made with them.

“‘Then MY anger shall be aroused against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide MY face from them, and they shall be devoured.  And many evils and troubles shall befall them, so that they will say in that day, ‘Have not these evils come upon us because our GOD is not among us?’”   (Deuteronomy 31:16–17)

Twice, YAHUVEH says HE will hide HIS face /hester panim from HIS people because of their sins.  This term does not indicate the lack of Divine Providence but the concealment of it.

We can see this at work even today. YAHUVEH is maintaining HIS state of being hidden from the people of Israel—but the Father is revealed through YAHUSHUA Ha MASHIACH.

“Anyone who has seen Me,” YAHUSHUA said, “has seen the Father.”  (John 14:9)

In YAHUSHUA, we see YAHUVEH in all of HIS glory:

“For ELOHIM, who said, ‘called forth the light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of YAHUVEH that is seen in the face of YAHUSHUA the Messiah.”  (2 Corinthians 4:6)

“Hear the word of YAHUVEH, you nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands:  ‘HE who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over HIS flock like a shepherd.'”  (Jeremiah 31:10)

ADDITIONAL TEACHING

Shabbat shalom / Days of Awe

We are in an important 10-day period known as the Days of Awe Yamim Nora’im, which started on Sunday night with Rosh Ha Shanah (Head of the Year) and will end next Wednesday night with the close of Yom Kippur /Day of Atonement.

A more common name for this 10-day period is Aseret Yemei Teshuvah /10 Days of Repentance.

Traditionally, Rosh Ha Shanah, also known as Yom Teruah /Day of Trumpet Blasts is a day of judgment when YAHUVEH opens HIS book, examines our deeds, and decides who will live, who will die, who will have a good life, and who will have one filled with troubles.

While it is believed that YAHUVEH makes HIS decree on Rosh Ha Shanah, that decree is not sealed in the Book of Life until Yom Kippur.

During these Days of Awe, we repent of our sins of the past year, ever mindful that YAHUVEH is a righteous judge; all HIS ways are just and true.  HE will reward the righteous and not allow the wicked to go unpunished.

“Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a GOD who judges on earth.”  (Psalm 58:11)

The concept of the Book of Life and its connection to judgment is entirely Scriptural.  The Bible, in fact, contains many references to the Book of Life.

The Hebrew Prophet Daniel wrote that “everyone whose name is found written in the book will be delivered.”  (Daniel 12:1)

We also see references to this in the Brit Chadashah /New Testament:

“He that overcomes… I will never blot his name out of the Book of Life.”  (Revelation 3:5)

“Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.”  (Revelation 20:15)

May our family, loved ones and the Jewish People be found written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Teshuvah and Tzedakah

Judaism traditionally holds that actions consistent with teshuvah repentance, tefilah prayer, and tzedakah charity /Good deeds during the Days of Awe can alter YAHUVEH’s decree that HE issued on Rosh Ha Shanah.

For this reason, it’s customary during these 10 days to spend time getting right with YAHUVEH and with our fellow man.

No amount of silver or gold can deliver us from the wrath of YAHUVEH.

“Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of YAHUVEH’s wrath.”  (Zephaniah 1:18)

We have been redeemed without money through the precious and costly gift of the blood of Messiah YAHUSHUA.  (Hebrews 9:12)

“You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed.”  (Isaiah 52:3)

Though we cannot atone for our sins with gifts of money, YAHUVEH does command that we be generous to the poor and needy in the Land.

HE promises that if we are obedient to this, then HE will bless all that we set our hands to!  (Deuteronomy 15:7–11)

“Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this YAHUVEH your GOD will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.”
(Deuteronomy 15:10)

In the Torah, giving to the poor in the land of Israel is not optional:

“If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that YAHUVEH your GOD is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother.  Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs.”  (Deuteronomy 15:7–8)

tzedakah/ charities is so fundamental to Judaism that if a Jewish person fails to show mercy to the poor, his or her lineage is considered suspect.

Throughout these Days of Awe, however, tzedakah will be offered over and above what we would normally give throughout the year.

Nillah: Closing the Gate

On Yom Kippur, the closing service is called Nillah, which means the closing of a gate.

Jewish tradition holds that up until this very last moment, we can repent and pray for YAHUVEH’s mercy.  In fact, it is said that access through this gate is never easier than in the hours before Yom Kippur.  This is a time when the heavens are open wide.

However, when dusk comes and the fast of Yom Kippur is finished, the gate is closed and judgment is sealed.

In the Brit Chadashah /New Testament, YAHUSHUA said that HE is the gate for HIS sheep.  That Gate is open wide all year long for those who want to enter through HIM.

“I am the Gate, whoever enters through ME will be saved.”
(John 10:9)

To understand what YAHUSHUA meant by this, let’s examine the purpose of a gate.
A gate gives us access to a place; to get to the other side, we go through the gate.  Through YAHUSHUA, by faith, we gain access to eternity:
“Those who believe in ME, even though they die like everyone else, will live again.  They are given eternal life for believing in ME, and will never perish.”  (John 11:25–26)

A gate also provides a way through a barrier.  Our sins separate us from YAHUVEH, but through YAHUSHUA, Jew and Gentile have access to the Father in Heaven /Abba b’Shamayim.
“YAHUSHUA said, ‘I am the way, the truth and the Life; no one can come to the Father but through ME.’”  (John 14:6)

A gate controls who may or may not enter:
“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the Tree of Life and may go through the gates into the city.  Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.”  (Revelation 22:14–15)

YAHSUHUA tells us that anyone trying to climb in by some other way is a thief and robber:
“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.”  (John 10:1)

That None Would Perish

YAHUVEH’s desire is that everyone would repent and no one would perish.  (Matthew 18:14)

That was the reason for instituting atonement and for sending YAHUSHUA the Messiah.  HIS very name means Salvation!

YAHUSHUA did not come to judge or condemn, “but to save the world through HIM.”  (John 3:17)

Even while dying on the execution stake between two criminals, YAHUSHUA offered a place in Paradise to the one who placed last-minute trust in HIM.

YAHUSHUA told him, “This day you will be with ME in Paradise.”  (Luke 23:43)

Even until someone’s very last breath, the gateway to salvation through the Messiah YAHUSHUA is still open.

As we pass through these Ten Days of Awe /Yamim Nora’im, let’s take time to get our lives right with YAHUVEH and one another.

This is the time to let go and forgive, as well as to seek forgiveness.

These Ten Days of Awe are an opportunity to seriously seek the face of YAHUVEH, to examine our lives, and repent for our sins.

It’s a time to call upon HIS mercy for ourselves, our families, our nations, and for Israel, and to take practical steps to be instruments of reconciliation, forgiveness, and love.

“Have mercy on me, O YAHUVEH, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.”  (Psalm 51:1)
