Bamidbar – In the Wilderness

Shabbat Shalom!

Welcome to Parasha Bamidbar – In the Wilderness, this week’s Torah portion.

Torah Reading

Numbers 1:1–4:20;

1 YAHUVEH spoke to Moshe in the Sinai Desert, in the tent of meeting, on the first day of the second month of the second year after they had left the land of Egypt. He said, 2 “Take a census of the entire assembly of the people of Isra’el, by clans and families. Record the names of all the men 3 twenty years old and over who are subject to military service in Isra’el. You and Aharon are to enumerate them company by company.

4 Take with you from each tribe someone who is head of a clan. 5 These are the men to take with you:

From Re’uven, Elitzur the son of Sh’de’ur;
6
From Shim‘on, Shlumi’el the son of Tzurishaddai;
7
From Y’hudah, Nachshon the son of ‘Amminadav;
8
From Yissakhar, N’tan’el the son of Tzu‘ar;
9
From Z’vulun, Eli’av the son of Helon.
10
Of the children of Yosef:
From Efrayim, Elishama the son of ‘Ammihud;
From M’nasheh, Gamli’el the son of P’dahtzur.
11
From Binyamin, Avidan the son of Gid‘oni;
12
From Dan, Achi‘ezer the son of ‘Ammishaddai;
13
From Asher, Pag‘i’el the son of ‘Okhran;
14
From Gad, Elyasaf the son of De‘u’el;
15
From Naftali, Achira the son of ‘Enan.”

16 These were the ones called from the assembly, the chiefs of their fathers’ clans and heads of thousands in Isra’el. 17 So Moshe and Aharon took these men who had been designated by name; 18 and, on the first day of the second month, they gathered the whole assembly to state their genealogies by families and clans and recorded the names of all those twenty years old and over, as well as their total numbers. 19 Moshe counted them in the Sinai Desert, just as YAHUVEH had ordered him.

(ii) 20 The men twenty years old and over who were subject to military service were recorded by name, family and clan, starting with the descendants of Re’uven, Isra’el’s firstborn. Here are the totals:
21 Descendants of Re’uven 46,500
22-23 Descendants of Shim‘on 59,300
24-25 Descendants of Gad 45,650
26-27 Descendants of Y’hudah 74,600
28-29 Descendants of Yissakhar 54,400
30-31 Descendants of Z’vulun 57,400
32-33 Descendants of Efrayim 40,500
34-35 Descendants of M’nasheh 32,200
36-37 Descendants of Binyamin 35,400
38-39 Descendants of Dan 62,700
40-41 Descendants of Asher 41,500
42-43 Descendants of Naftali 53,400

44 Moshe, Aharon and the twelve leaders of Isra’el, each from a clan, 45 counted the people of Isra’el by their clans, those twenty years old and over, eligible for military service in Isra’el; 46 and the grand total came to 603,550.

47 But those who were L’vi’im, according to the clan of their fathers, were not counted in this census; 48 because YAHUVEH had told Moshe, 49 “Do not include the clan of Levi when you take the census of the people of Isra’el. 50 Instead, give the L’vi’im charge over the tabernacle of the testimony, its equipment and everything else connected with it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its equipment, serve in it and set up their camp around it. 51 When the tabernacle is to be moved onward, it is the L’vi’im who are to take it down and set it up in the new location; anyone else who involves himself is to be put to death. 52 The rest of Isra’el are to set up camp, company by company, each man with his own banner. 53 But the L’vi’im are to camp around the tabernacle of the testimony, so that no anger will come upon the assembly of the people of Isra’el. The L’vi’im are to be in charge of the tabernacle of the testimony.”

54 This is what the people of Isra’el did — they did everything that YAHUVEH had ordered Moshe.

2 (iii) YAHUVEH said to Moshe and Aharon, 2 “The people of Isra’el are to set up camp by clans, each man with his own banner and under his clan’s symbol; they are to camp around the tent of meeting, but at a distance.

3-9 “Those camping on the east side toward the sunrise are to be under the banner of the camp of Y’hudah; they are to camp according to companies; by tribe and leader they are as follows:
Tribe Chief Number
Y’hudah Nachshon the son of ‘Amminadav 74,600
Yissakhar N’tan’el the son of Tzu‘ar 54,400
Z’vulun Eli’av the son of Helon 57,400
Total 186,400

“This group is to set out first.

10-16 “Those camping on the south are to be under the banner of the camp of Re’uven; they are to camp according to companies; by tribe and leader they are as follows:
Tribe Chief Number
Re’uven Elitzur the son of Sh’de’ur 46,500
Shim‘on Shlumi’el the son of Tzurishaddai 59,300
Gad Elyasaf the son of Re‘u’el 45,650
Total 151,450

“This group is to set out second.

17 “Then the tent of meeting, with the camp of the L’vi’im, will set out, with the other camps in front and behind. They will go in the same order as their camps are set up — each man will go forward in his position, under his banner.

18-24 “Those camping on the west are to be under the banner of the camp of Efrayim; they are to camp according to companies; by tribe and leader they are as follows:
Tribe Chief Number
Efrayim Elishama the son of ‘Ammihud 40,500
M’nasheh Gamli’el the son of P’dahtzur 32,200
Binyamin Avidan the son of Gid‘oni 35,400
Total 108,100

“This group is to set out third.

25-31 “Those camping on the north are to be under the banner of the camp of Dan; they are to camp according to companies; by tribe and leader they are as follows:
Tribe Chief Number
Dan Achi‘ezer the son of ‘Ammishaddai 62,700
Asher Pag‘i’el the son of ‘Okhran 41,500
Naftali Achira the son of ‘Enan 53,400
Total 157,600

“This group is to set out last with their banners.”

32 These are the ones counted from the people of Isra’el by clans; the total number recorded in the camps, company by company, was 603,550. 33 But, as YAHUVEH ordered Moshe, the L’vi’im were not counted with the rest of Isra’el.

34 The people of Isra’el did everything YAHUVEH had ordered Moshe: they set up camp under their banners, and they set out, each according to his family and clan.

3 (iv) These are the descendants of Aharon and Moshe as of the day when YAHUVEH spoke with Moshe on Mount Sinai. 2 The names of the sons of Aharon are: Nadav the firstborn, Avihu, El‘azar and Itamar. 3 These were the names of the sons of Aharon the cohen, whom he anointed and ordained as cohanim. 4 But Nadav and Avihu died in the presence of YAHUVEH when they offered unauthorized fire before YAHUVEH in the Sinai Desert, and they had no children; El‘azar and Itamar served as cohanim in the presence of Aharon their father.

5 YAHUVEH said to Moshe, 6 “Summon the tribe of Levi, and assign them to Aharon the cohen, so that they can help him. 7 They are to carry out his duties and the duties of the whole community before the tent of meeting in performing the service of the tabernacle. 8 They are to be in charge of all the furnishings of the tent of meeting and to carry out all the duties of the people of Isra’el connected with the service of the tabernacle. 9 Assign the L’vi’im to Aharon and his sons; their one responsibility in regard to the people of Isra’el is to serve him. 10 You are to appoint Aharon and his sons to carry out the duties of cohanim; anyone else who involves himself is to be put to death.”

11 YAHUVEH said to Moshe, 12 “I have taken the L’vi’im from among the people of Isra’el in lieu of every firstborn male that is first from the womb among the people of Isra’el; the L’vi’im are to be mine. 13 All the firstborn males belong to me, because on the day that I killed all the firstborn males in the land of Egypt, I separated for myself all the firstborn males in Isra’el, both human and animal. They are mine; I am YAHUVEH.”

(v) 14 YAHUVEH said to Moshe in the Sinai Desert, 15 “Take a census of the tribe of Levi by clans and families. Count every male a month old or over.” 16 Moshe counted them in the manner YAHUVEH had said, as he had been ordered. 17 The names of the sons of Levi were Gershon, K’hat and M’rari. 18 The names of the sons of Gershon were Livni and Shim‘i; they fathered their respective clans; 19 likewise the sons of K’hat — ‘Amram,Yitz’har, Hevron and ‘Uzi’el — 20 and the sons of M’rari — Machli and Mushi. These fathered the clans of the L’vi’im.

21 Gershon fathered the clans of Livni and Shim‘i; these were the Gershon clans. 22 Of them, 7,500 males a month old and over were counted. 23 The Gershon clans were to camp behind the tabernacle, toward the west. 24 The chief of the Gershon clan was Elyasaf, the son of La’el. 25 In connection with the tent of meeting, the descendants of Gershon were to be in charge of the following: the tabernacle itself, its inner and outer coverings, the screen for the entrance of the tent of meeting, 26 the curtains surrounding the courtyard, the screen for the entrance of the courtyard surrounding the tabernacle and the altar, all the fixtures and ropes for these items, and their maintenance.

27 K’hat fathered the clans of ‘Amram, Yitz’har, Hevron and ‘Uzi’el; these were the K’hat clans. 28 Of them, 8,600 males a month old and over were counted; they were in charge of the Holy Place. 29 The K’hat clans were to camp next to the tabernacle, toward the south. 30 The chief of the K’hat clan was Elitzafan the son of ‘Uzi’el. 31 They were responsible for the ark, the table, the menorah, the altars, the utensils the cohanim use when they serve in the Holy Place, the curtain, and everything involved with the maintenance of these things. 32 El‘azar the son of Aharon the cohen was first among the chiefs of the L’vi’im and supervised those in charge of the Holy Place.

33 M’rari fathered the clans of Machli and Mushi; these were the M’rari clans. 34 Of them, 6,200 males a month old and over were counted. 35 The chief of the M’rari clan was Tzuri’el the son of Avichayil. They were to camp next to the tabernacle, toward the north. 36 The M’rari clans were assigned responsibility for the frames of the tabernacle, along with its crossbars, posts, sockets and fittings, together with their maintenance; 37 also the posts of the surrounding courtyard, with their sockets, pegs and ropes.

38 Those who were to camp in front of the tabernacle on the east, in front of the tent of meeting toward the sunrise, were Moshe, Aharon and his sons who were in charge of the Holy Place. They carried out their responsibility on behalf of the people of Isra’el, and anyone else who involved himself was to be put to death.

39 The total number of L’vi’im whom Moshe and Aharon counted by their clans, all the males a month old and over, was 22,000.

(vi) 40 YAHUVEH said to Moshe, “Register all the firstborn males of the people of Isra’el a month old and over, and determine how many there are. 41 Then you are to take the L’vi’im for me, YAHUVEH, in place of all the firstborn among the people of Isra’el, and the cattle of the L’vi’im in place of the firstborn of the cattle belonging to the people of Isra’el.” 42 Moshe counted, as YAHUVEH had ordered him, all the firstborn among the people of Isra’el. 43 The total number of firstborn males registered, a month old and over, of those who were counted, was 22,273.

44 YAHUVEH said to Moshe, 45 “Take the L’vi’im in place of all the firstborn among the people of Isra’el, and the cattle of the L’vi’im in place of their cattle; the L’vi’im are to belong to me, YAHUVEH. 46 Since there were 273 more firstborn males from Isra’el than male L’vi’im, in order to redeem them, 47 you are to take five shekels [two ounces] for each of these (use the sanctuary shekel, which is equal to twenty gerahs). 48 Give the redemption money for these extra people to Aharon and his sons.” 49 Moshe took the redemption money from those who were over and above those redeemed by the L’vi’im; 50 the amount of money he took from the firstborn of the people of Isra’el was 1,365 shekels, using the sanctuary shekel. 51 Moshe gave the redemption-money to Aharon and his sons, in keeping with what YAHUVEH had said, as YAHUVEH had ordered Moshe.

4 (vii) YAHUVEH said to Moshe and Aharon, 2 “Take a census of the descendants of K’hat, who are among the descendants of Levi, by clans and families, 3 all those from thirty to fifty years old; these will enter the corps doing the work in the tent of meeting.

4 “Here is how the descendants of K’hat are to serve in the tent of meeting and deal with the especially holy things: 5 when the time comes to break camp, Aharon is to go in with his sons, take down the curtain which serves as a screen, and cover the ark of the testimony with it. 6 On that they are to place a covering of fine leather, and on top of that spread an all-blue cloth. Then they are to insert the carrying-poles. 7 On the table of showbread they are to spread a blue cloth and place on it the dishes, incense pans, offering bowls and pitchers. The perpetual bread is to remain on the table. 8 They are to spread on these things a scarlet cloth, cover them with a covering of fine leather and insert the poles. 9 They are to take a blue cloth and cover the menorah for the light, its lamps, its tongs, its trays and the jars used to add oil to it. 10 They are to wrap it and all its accessories in fine leather and place them on a carrying-frame. 11 On the gold altar they are to spread a blue cloth, cover it with a covering of fine leather and insert its carrying-poles. 12 They are to take all the utensils they use when serving in the sanctuary and put them in a blue cloth, cover them with fine leather and place them on a carrying-frame. 13 After removing the greasy ashes from the altar, they are to spread a purple cloth over it 14 and place on it all the utensils required for their altar service — the fire pans, meat-hooks, shovels, basins and other utensils for the altar. Then they are to spread over it a fine leather covering and insert its carrying-poles. 15 When Aharon and his sons have finished covering the holy furnishings and all the holy utensils, when the camp is about to move forward, then the descendants of K’hat are to come and carry them. But they are not to touch the holy things, so that they won’t die. These things are the responsibility of the descendants of K’hat in the tent of meeting.

16 “El‘azar the son of Aharon the cohen is to be responsible for the oil for the light, the fragrant incense, the continuing grain offering and the anointing oil. He is to be in charge of the entire tabernacle and everything in it, including the sanctuary and its furnishings.”

(Maftir) 17 YAHUVEH said to Moshe and Aharon, 18 “Do not cut off the clan of K’hat from among the L’vi’im; 19 rather, do this for them, so that they will live and not die: when they approach the especially holy things, Aharon and his sons are to go in — and you are to assign each one his task; 20 but the descendants of K’hat are not to go in and look at the holy things as they are being covered; if they do, they will die.”

Prophetic Reading

Hosea 1:10– 2:20 [2:1–2:22 in Hebrew Bible];

2 (1:10) “Nevertheless, the people of Isra’el will number as many as the grains of sand by the sea, which cannot be measured or counted; so that the time will come when, instead of being told, ‘You are not my people,’ it will be said to them, ‘You are the children of the living ELOHIM.’ 2 (1:11) Then the people of Y’hudah and the people of Isra’el will be gathered together; they will appoint for themselves one leader; and they will go up out of the land; for that will be a great day, [the day] of Yizre‘el.

3
(1) “Say to your brothers, ‘Ammi [My People]!’
and to your sisters, ‘Ruchamah [Pitied]!’
4
(2) Rebuke your mother, rebuke her;
for she isn’t my wife, and I’m not her husband.
She must remove her whoring from her face,
and her adulteries from between her breasts.
5
(3) Otherwise, I will strip her naked
and place her as she was the day she was born,
make her like a desert, place her like a dry land
and kill her with thirst.
6
(4) I will have no pity on her children,
for they are children of whoring —
7
(5) their mother prostituted herself,
she who conceived them behaved shamelessly;
she said, ‘I will pursue my lovers,
who give me my food and water,
wool, flax, olive oil and wine.’
8
(6) Therefore, I will block her way with thorns
and put up a hedge so she can’t find her paths.
9
(7) She will pursue her lovers but not catch them.
She will seek them but won’t find them.
Then she will say, ‘I will go
and return to my first husband;
because things were better for me then
than they are now.’
10
(8) For she doesn’t know it was I who gave her
the grain, the wine and the oil;
I who increased her silver and gold,
which they used for Ba‘al.
11
(9) So I will take back my grain at harvest-time
and my wine in its season;
I will snatch away my wool and flax,
given to cover her naked body.
12
(10) Now I will uncover her shame,
while her lovers watch;
and no one will save her from me.
13
(11) I will end her happiness,
her festivals, Rosh-Hodesh, and shabbats,
and all her designated times.
14
(12) I will ravage her vines and fig trees,
of which she says, ‘These are my wages
that my lovers have given me.’
But I will turn them into a forest,
and wild animals will eat them.
15
(13) I will punish her for offering incense
on the feast days of the ba‘alim,
when she decked herself with her earrings and jewels,
pursuing her lovers and forgetting me,” says YAHUVEH.
16
(14) “But now I am going to woo her —
I will bring her out to the desert
and I will speak to her heart.
17
(15) I will give her her vineyards from there
and the Akhor Valley as a gateway to hope.
She will respond there as she did when young,
as she did when she came up from Egypt.

18
(16) “On that day,” says YAHUVEH
“you will call me Ishi [My Husband];
you will no longer call me Ba‘ali [My Master].
19
(17) For I will remove the names
of the ba‘alim from her mouth;
they will never again be mentioned by name.
20
(18) When that day comes, I will make
a covenant for them
with the wild animals, the birds in the air
and the creeping things of the earth.
I will break bow and sword,
sweep battle from the land,
and make them lie down securely.
21
(19) I will betroth you to me forever;
yes, I will betroth you to me
in righteousness, in justice,
in grace and in compassion;
22
(20) I will betroth you to me in faithfulness,
and you will know YAHUVEH.

Romans 15:1–7

15 So we who are strong have a duty to bear the weaknesses of those who are not strong, rather than please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please his neighbor and act for his good, thus building him up. 3 For even the Messiah did not please himself; rather, as the Tanakh says, ‘The insults of those insulting you fell on me.’[a] 4 For everything written in the past was written to teach us, so that with the encouragement of the Tanakh we might patiently hold on to our hope. 5 And may ELOHIM, the source of encouragement and patience, give you the same attitude among yourselves as the Messiah YAHUSHUA had, 6 so that with one accord and with one voice you may glorify the ELOHIM and Father of our Lord YAHUSHUA the Messiah.

7 So welcome each other, just as the Messiah has welcomed you into ELOHIM’s glory.

AmightyWind Prophecies:

This is from Prophecy 105, YAHUVEH said to put this up on all Prophecies from now on: I warned you a long time ago Elisabeth (Elisheva) not to name this Ministry after a man or a woman even before there was a Ministry. I put it in your spirit for none of this has been done by your hand, none of this has come forth from your mouth. It is from the Mouth of YAHUVEH that has given birth. It is from the Mouth of YAHUSHUA your MASHIACH that has given birth. It is from the Mouth of the RUACH ha KODESH your IMMAYAH that has given birth. If it had only been by your hand it would have failed long ago. It is by the SHKHINYAH GLORY’S Wind that blows across this earth, the Holy Wind of Revival, it is not by your breath or it would have failed. (Isaiah 42:8)

Torah Portion: Elite Service of Levites

Prophecy 76 Beloved Bride of YAHUSHUA Arise And Prepare Yourself For Your Bridegroom Doth Come!

MY beloved Bride, you consist of both male and female. You are called a virgin, for you have come out of the man-made doctrines and fled the churches of Babylon. MY Bride, you are not afraid to expose evil, even when it is in the churches and expose the compromising Pastors of the churches and those who call themselves Rabbi’s who are compromising too. This is evil in MY sight. You, MY Bride, will not remain silent and the more the heathen and Pharisees as well as the Lukewarm Christians and the 6 churches mentioned in Revelation try and muzzle you, the louder you yell. MY beloved Bride, you who praise, worship, love and adore, desire above all else to put a smile on Abba YAHUVEH’s face pleasing HIM as well as your MESSIAH and soon coming Groom. MY Bride, you know obedience to YAHUVEH and YAHUSHUA is Love and you prove your love and loyalty by obeying YAH’s commands.

Verily I say unto you that you, the Bride of YAHUSHUA seek to obey and go the extra mile, what ever it takes to obey Abba YAHUVEH, to do what others deem foolish such as observing the Holy Feast Days and keeping the true Sabbath and flee man-made religions that changed the Sabbath to Sunday. MY Bride you know anything that is corrupt or perverted is not Holy and is an abomination unto YAHUVEH such as abortion, homosexuality and same-sex marriages. MY Bride, you do not remain silent but loudly protest these things and condemn anyone who does not do so, calling them a coward and a hypocrite.

You are the best fruit I will redeem from the earth before the Great Tribulation. MY Bride, you only boast in who you serve and you remain humble, never fully understanding why I,YAHUSHUA, would choose you, but feel honored you have been chosen and yet do not take it for granted and still pray you’re counted worthy to be called MY Bride. MY Bride understands the importance of observing the Holy Days her Jewish Messiah Groom kept. MY Bride, you have laid everything down on the altar of sacrifice and hold nothing back and will follow your MESSIAH and obey all I say. Your cry on your lips is Holy.

MY Bride, you not only love Abba YAHUVEH and YAHUSHUA but are passionately in love with Abba YAHUVEH and I,YAHUSHUA, just as in the songs of Solomon. MY Bride, you put both the Creator and the Messiah equally first in your lives and love. All others be they spouse, children, family, friends, business or pleasure come second in your love and life. MY Bride, you would be willing to lay down your life if need be, if this was YAH’S will. MY Bride, you forsook all your earthly comforts when I said to you, “Come and follow ME!”

MY Bride, you long for ME the way I have longed to physically be with you and it is not afar off now. Take comfort, MY beloved, and on this next Rosh Hashanah 2004, speak to ME in a way that you would speak to a loving spouse when you want him to return back to you because he has gone away on a long journey. Weep for MY return out of love and longing, not out of fear. I long to hear your words of passion and love for ME and so does our Abba YAHUVEH.

Prophecy 132 Israel I Love You, I Rebuke You!

I, YAHUSHUA, weep for you!

You heard the Prophecy [63] given in 2002 by MY Prophet Elijah of New, but now oh Israel in 2016 the spirit of Eliyahu and the spirit of Moshe join together! This is to show you the fullness of the Anointing.

And from henceforth, to all those who receive YAHUSHUA, I YAHUSHUA’S BLOOD spilled at Calvary for the remission of your sins so your prayers can be heard to your ABBA YAHUVEH, I tell you this: study not just the Prophets of Old but study the Prophets6-Prophecies spoken forth from Elisheva Eliyahu.

For there is now more Anointing when [these two] Apostles, Prophets join together-not just Ministries but their hearts and their souls join together-it’s symbolic too: I, YAHUSHUA, joining with you!

Oh Israel!

I do not want to have to do what I have to do! Come to ME! Oh Bride of Israel! Raise up now! Come to ME! I long for you! Come to ME! For I’ve waited so long-with every Torah portion-“seek and ye shall find” (Jer 29:13-14; Mt 7:7; Lk 11:5), a Prophecy given through this Elisheva Eliyahu.

Prophecy 1 Judgment Starts At The House of YAHUVEH

There is coming and has already begun a civil war to America.

But there better not be a civil war in MY churches. They had better not be prejudiced, whether it be outward appearance or race. For when MY Children see each other, they had better only see RED, MY Blood. Stop dividing your churches by colors. I see no color. I am all races in one. Stop judging one another by outward appearance. For where the spirit of prejudice is, MY RUACH ha KODESH (Holy Spirit) will not stay, will not dwell. Instead, evil spirits will be allowed in. You have been warned.

I choose to use this vessel because she thinks she is the weakest of the lot, but I say once again, I will use the humble and meek, those who no one thinks I will use for MY power shows up best in weak people. Others know it is not of them and they don’t boast. For they know it is only MY anointing that breaks every yoke, fetter, chain, shackle and bondage. It is not by your might nor power but by MY Spirit. Thus saith YAHUSHUA, “I chose to come as a babe, the weakest of all to prove, don’t look on the outward, look on the inward! The anointing knows no gender, race or age.”

Prophecy 44 Arise Watchmen On The Wall

For I am calling many forth now, says YAHUVEH. These are MY yielded vessels, yielded instruments in MY supernatural army that shall bring unity to MY body. They shall bring order. For now is the time, says YAHUVEH, now is the time for MY watchmen. Now is the time for those who have walked the midnight hours. Arise, arise, arise, oh sleeping people. Arise now, arise now, arise now, and proclaim the victory. An army fearsome and strong, an army that will cause the enemy to shake and tremble with fear and terror upon hearing the noise of your assemblage and of your marching through the land. Continue to call out and proclaim and preach the gospel of salvation.

For united you stand and divided you’ll fall so stay united, you need one another. You know not what is going to happen this year.

Prophecy 121 Is YAHUSHUA Just Savior Or Is HE Lord GOD Almighty Of Your Life?

The enemies, they say, “You can’t sin away grace”. The enemies lie. They test ME again and again, time after time. They say, “Because we can do anything we want to do now! It’s all about the cross. You’re not allowed to judge me. You’re not to tell me that my soul is lost” and they don’t even know ME. It is the letter that killeth and the spirit that giveth life. They don’t even have the Spirit. The HOLY SPIRIT is not within. They’ve read the Word. They’ve memorized them. They try to claim ME as a SAVIOUR but they say, “Get lost as a LORD”! They say, “I don’t want no master over me, this is my life and I’m going to live it the way I want to! Oh but I love you Jesus. Oh but I praise you! John 3:16! See it says it right here all I have to do is just believe. I don’t have to obey! AmightyWind ministry go away! I can sin all I want who are you to say? It’s not about what I do – it’s what Jesus did. No one can be righteous see it says it right here ‘All have sinned and fell short of the righteousness of GOD.’ (Rom. 3:23)”

But I tell you this, the prayers of the righteous availeth much (James 5:16) for you are righteous through ME for you are as a David and when you do sin against ME unknowingly, [and when you realize it] you are quick to repent. You fear not to repent. You know that I tell you to show ME how you love ME, is to obey ME. (John 14:15) I’m telling you this and no one else will preach it so I will speak if forth out of this vessel of clay. I cannot just be a SAVIOUR, I must be your LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. It all goes together as one. This is why this ministry is set-apart. It’s not just sent to the last chancers. It’s not just used a Refiner’s furnace. It’s sent to those who are called to be MY Bride. Even this night you see a Word has come forth. Elisabeth [Elisheva] could not call in her time to you for the word wasn’t there yet. I had to give her a dream. I had to speak forth the words I did this night.

BAMIDBAR /In the Wilderness

“YAHUVEH spoke to Moses in the Sinai Desert [Bamidbar].”  (Numbers 1:1)

Last week, we finished studying the Book of Leviticus with Parasha Bechukotai.

This week’s Torah study begins the fourth of the five books of Moses, Bamidbar, which means in the desert or wilderness.  While this name is taken from the fifth Hebrew word in verse one, it reflects one of the themes of this book.

The Counting of the Army

Bamidbar is called “Numbers” in English because the first four chapters mention censuses of Israelites, the first of which number the men who are able to bear arms.  An older Hebrew name for Bamidbar —Sefer Hapikudim /Book of the Countings — also reflects this theme of counting.

In chapter one of Bamidbar, the Israelites are still camped at Mount Sinai after having received the law, built the Tabernacle, and having been instructed in worship.  Now, before they move forward to the Promised Land, they must be prepared for the threats that await on the journey.

YAHUVEH commands Moses to take a census of all Israelite males able to bear arms from ages twenty and up.

“And so he counted them in the Desert of Sinai.”  (Numbers 1:19)

The census results reveal that the Israelites are mighty in number.  The men capable of battle are listed by tribe, totaling 603,550 men:

  • Reuben: 46,500
  • Simeon: 59,300
  • Gad: 45,650
  • Judah: 74,600
  • Issachar: 54,400
  • Zebulun: 57,400
  • Ephraim: 40,500
  • Manasseh: 32,200
  • Benjamin: 35,400
  • Dan: 62,700
  • Asher: 41,500
  • Naphtali: 53,400

The Elite Service of the Levites

“In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to Him, and His resting place will be glorious.”  (Isaiah 11:10)

The Levites are not counted in the census since they are not to be conscripted into the military.

The Levites, who are descendants of Aaron, are anointed as priests and given priestly duties (Exodus 28:1, 29:9).

Those Levites who do not descend from Aaron function in subordinate roles to the Aaronite priests as their servants.  These Levites replace the firstborn sons of Israel who were originally given this task, but they lost that privilege due to their worship of the Golden Calf.  The Levites, however, remained faithful during that time and earned YAH’s favor.  (Exodus 13:2, 13:11–13, 32:25–26; Numbers 3:12–13)

As servants to the priests, the Levites are placed in charge of the furnishings and structure of the Tabernacle — taking it down, carrying it, and setting it back up as the Israelites moved through the wilderness.

This is such a holy assignment that only the Levites are allowed to approach the Tabernacle.  Any unauthorized person coming near would be punished with death.  (Numbers 1:47–51)

The Levites are also required to set up their tents around the Tabernacle (not in one location as the other tribes).  They form a barrier to prevent the Israelites from coming too close to the Tabernacle, which would cause the wrath of ELOHIM to fall upon the Israelite camp.  (Numbers 1:53)

All Israelites are to camp at a specified distance from the Tent of Meeting — far enough away to protect the holiness of the Tabernacle and yet close enough for the Israelites to walk to the meetings.

“ELOHIM said to Moses and Aaron:  ‘The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting some distance from it, each of them under their standard and holding the banners of their family.’”  (Numbers 2:1–2)

According to Divine placement, the 12 tribes of Israel camp beyond the Levite circle in four groups of three tribes each:

  • Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun to the East
  • Reuben, Simeon, and Gad to the South;
  • Ephraim, Manasseh, and Benjamin to the West; and
  • Dan, Asher, and Naphtali to the North.

Because light comes from the East, that is where Moses, Aaron, and his sons camp, since they are great, holy men responsible for carrying the light of ELOHIM to the nation.

Each tribe has its own prince or leader (nasi / Numbers 2:3) and distinctive flag or banner (degel/ Numbers 2:2) with its own particular tribal emblem and color.  The colors are thought to correspond to the precious stones on the breastplate of the High Priest (Cohen HaGadol).

These symbols are considered a sign of ELOHIM’s great love for each tribe of Israel, as it says in the Song of Songs:  “His banner [degel] over me is love.”   (Numbers 2:4)

Even while traveling, the Israelites kept to their particular formation around the Tabernacle. that formation allowed Korah (a Levite) to conspire with Datan, Abiram, and On (Reubenites) mutiny against the leadership of Moses (Numbers 16:1).

Since they lived in close proximity on the south side of the Tabernacle, they used the opportunity to foment a rebellion.

Of course, this is a perfect illustration of the importance of carefully choosing our companions.  The Bible teaches us that bad company corrupts good character (1 Corinthians 15:33).

Haftarah Prophetic Portion:  United Under One Authority

“Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered.”  (Hosea 1:10 [2:1 in the Hebrew Bible])

Usually there is a common theme between the Parasha and the corresponding Haftarah prophetic portion.

The connection in today’s study from the Book of Hosea (Hosea 1:10–2:20 [2:1–2:22]) is the wilderness and the numbering of the people of Israel.

Hosea, in fact, prophesies that Israel’s numbers will grow in number like the sand of the sea.

Hosea prophesies that the two houses of Judah and  Ephraim will eventually be re-unified in the Messianic Era under a single leader, as also foreseen by Daniel, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Zechariah, among other prophets and writers.  (Daniel 7:13–14; Isaiah 9:6–7, 11:1–16; Ezekiel 37:15–28; Zechariah 14)

This leader is YAHUSHUA HaMashiach .

“And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint for themselves one head.  And they shall go up from the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.”

(Hosea 1:11 [2:2], also 3:3–5)

Because of this theme of assembling together in unity under one head, this portion is read before Shavuot, the time when according to tradition all the children came as one people to receive the Torah at Mount Sinai.

Likewise, at Shavuot (Pentecost), the disciples of YAHUSHUA waited in unity of mind, heart, and purpose for the coming of the RUACH HAKODESH.

(Acts 1:14)

There is an anointing and blessing when we gather together in unity with those who love YAHUVEH, YAHUSHUA, AND RUACH HAKODESH.

“How good and pleasant it is when YAH’s people live together in unity!  It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.  It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.  For there ELOHIM bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.”  (Psalm 133)

Redemption and Marriage

In this prophetic book, which is the first of the Twelve Prophets, YAH uses Hosea’s marriage to a prostitute as a real-life parable to reveal His great love for Israel.

After Hosea’s wife bears him children, YAH tells Hosea to send his wife and children away.

Hosea obeys, but declares his love for them, despite his wife’s straying.

Through this dispersion of his family, Hosea comes to understand YAH’s absolute commitment to Israel despite her straying.

With this insight, Hosea rebukes Israel for engaging in adulterous affairs with pagan deities and being an unfaithful spouse to ELOHIM.

And yet, just as Hosea takes back his wife who played the harlot, YAH promises to take back His unfaithful wife, Israel.  He promises that the Jewish People will repent and be betrothed to Him forever.

“I will betroth you to Me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion.  I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge YAHUVEH.”  (Hosea 2:19–20 [2:21–22])

This concluding passage of the Haftarah is a wonderful prophecy of redemption, which is recited by Jewish men each morning as they put on the tefillin (phylacteries).

This traditional wrapping of the leather straps around the man’s fingers is similar to a groom placing the wedding ring upon his bride.  It is meant to be symbolic of the betrothal of YAHUVEH and Israel.

Many have falsely said that YAHUVEH is finished with His Chosen People; however, Bible prophecy clearly reveals that this will never be so.  In fact, in these Last Days, YAHUVEH is moving among His people to physically and spiritually restore them.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”  (Isaiah 43:19)

Shabbat Shalom from AMIGHTYWIND!
