Welcome to Shemot /Names, this week’s Parasha -Torah Portion.
The time is coming when Ya‘akov will take root;
Isra’el will bud and flower,
and fill the whole world with a harvest.
7 [Adonai] will not strike Isra’el,
as he did others who struck Isra’el;
he will not kill them,
as he did the others.
8 Your controversy with her is fully resolved
by sending her [into exile].
He removes her with a rough gust of wind
on a day when it’s blowing from the east.
9 So the iniquity of Ya‘akov is atoned for by this,
and removing his sin produces this result:
he chops up all the altar stones like chalk —
sacred poles and sun-pillars stand no more.
10 For the fortified city is alone,
abandoned and deserted, like the desert.
Calves graze and lie down there,
stripping its branches bare.
11 When its harvest dries up, it is broken off;
women come and set it on fire.
For this is a people without understanding.
Therefore he who made them will not pity them,
he who formed them will show them no mercy.
12 On that day Adonai will beat out the grain
between the Euphrates River and the Vadi of Egypt;
and you will be gathered, one by one,
people of Isra’el!
13 On that day a great shofar will sound.
Those lost in the land of Ashur will come,
also those scattered through the land of Egypt;
and they will worship Adonai
on the holy mountain in Yerushalayim.
28 Woe to the haughty crown of Efrayim’s drunks,
to the fading flower of its proud splendor,
located at the head of the rich valley
belonging to people overcome by wine!
2 Adonai has someone strong and powerful.
He comes like a hailstorm, a destructive tempest,
like a flood of water, rushing, overwhelming;
with his hand he hurls them to the ground.
3 The haughty crown of Efrayim’s drunks
is trampled underfoot;
4 and the fading flower of its proud splendor,
located at the head of the rich valley,
is like the first ripe fig of summer —
whoever sees it picks and eats it.
5 On that day, Adonai–Tzva’ot
will be a glorious crown,
a brilliant diadem
for the remnant of his people.
6 He will also be a spirit of justice
for whoever sits as a judge,
and a source of strength for those
repelling enemy attacks at the gate.
7 But there are others reeling from wine,
staggering about because of strong liquor;
cohen and prophet reel from strong liquor,
they are confused by wine.
Led astray by strong liquor,
they err in their visions and stumble when judging.
8 All tables are covered with vomit and feces,
not a single place is clean.
9 Can no one be taught anything?
Can no one understand the message?
Must one teach barely weaned toddlers,
babies just taken from the breast,
10 so that [one has to use nursery rhymes]? —
Tzav la-tzav, tzav la-tzav,
kav la-kav, kav la-kav
z‘eir sham, z‘eir sham
[Precept by precept, precept by precept,
line by line, line by line,
a little here, a little there].
11 So with stammering lips, in a foreign accent,
[Adonai] will speak to this people.
12 He once told this people, “It’s time to rest,
the exhausted can rest, now you can relax” —
but they wouldn’t listen.
13 So now the word of Adonai for them comes
“precept by precept, precept by precept,
line by line, line by line,
a little here, a little there,”
so that when they walk, they stumble backward,
and are broken, trapped and captured!
Therefore, here are the words of Adonai, who redeemed Avraham, concerning the house of Ya‘akov:
“Ya‘akov will no longer be ashamed,
no longer will his face grow pale.
23 When his descendants see the work of my hands
among them, they will consecrate my name.
Yes, they will consecrate the Holy one of Ya‘akov
and stand in awe of the God of Isra’el.
1 These are the words of Yirmeyahu the son of Hilkiyahu, one of the cohanim living in ‘Anatot, in the territory of Binyamin. 2 The word of Adonai came to him during the days of Yoshiyahu the son of Amon, king of Y’hudah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. 3 It also came during the days of Y’hoyakim the son of Yoshiyahu, king of Y’hudah, continuing until the eleventh year of Tzidkiyahu the son of Yoshiyahu, king of Y’hudah, right up until the time Yerushalayim was carried away captive, in the fifth month.
4 Here is the word of Adonai that came to me:
5 “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you;
before you were born, I separated you for myself.
I have appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”
6 I said, “Oh, Adonai Elohim, I don’t even know how to speak! I’m just a child!” 7 But Adonai said to me, “Don’t say, ‘I’m just a child.’
“For you will go to whomever I send you,
and you will speak whatever I order you.
8 Do not be afraid of them,
for I am with you, says Adonai,
to rescue you.”
9 Then Adonai put out his hand and touched my mouth, and Adonai said to me,
“There! I have put my words in your mouth.
10 Today I have placed you over nations and kingdoms
to uproot and to tear down,
to destroy and to demolish,
to build and to plant.”
11 The word of Adonai came to me, asking, “Yirmeyahu, what do you see?” I answered, “I see a branch from an almond tree [a]. 12 Then Adonai said to me, “You have seen well, because I am watching [b] to fulfill my word.”
13 A second time the word of Adonai came to me, asking, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a caldron tilted away from the north, over a fire fanned by the wind.” 14 Then Adonai said to me, “From the north calamity will boil over onto everyone living in the land, 15 because I will summon all the families in the kingdoms of the north,” says Adonai,
“and they will come and sit, each one, on his throne
at the entrance to the gates of Yerushalayim,
opposite its walls, all the way around,
and opposite all the cities of Y’hudah.
16 I will pronounce my judgments against them
for all their wickedness in abandoning me,
offering incense to other gods
and worshipping what their own hands made.
17 “But you, dress for action; stand up and tell them
everything I order you to say.
When you confront them, don’t break down;
or I will break you down in front of them!
18 For today, you see, I have made you into
a fortified city, a pillar of iron,
a wall of bronze against the whole land —
against the kings of Y’hudah, against its princes,
against its cohanim and the people of the land.
19 They will fight against you,
but they will not overcome you,
for I am with you,” says Adonai,
“to rescue you.”
2 The word of Adonai came to me: 2 “Go and shout in the ears of Yerushalayim that this is what Adonai says:
‘I remember your devotion when you were young;
how, as a bride, you loved me;
how you followed me through the desert,
through a land not sown.
3 “‘Isra’el is set aside for Adonai,
the firstfruits of his harvest;
all who devour him will incur guilt;
evil will befall them,” says Adonai.
12 I exhort you, therefore, brothers, in view of God’s mercies, to offer yourselves as a sacrifice, living and set apart for God. This will please him; it is the logical “Temple worship” for you. 2 In other words, do not let yourselves be conformed to the standards of the ‘olam hazeh. Instead, keep letting yourselves be transformed by the renewing of your minds; so that you will know what God wants and will agree that what he wants is good, satisfying and able to succeed. 3 For I am telling every single one of you, through the grace that has been given to me, not to have exaggerated ideas about your own importance. Instead, develop a sober estimate of yourself based on the standard which God has given to each of you, namely, trust. 4 For just as there are many parts that compose one body, but the parts don’t all have the same function; 5 so there are many of us, and in union with the Messiah we comprise one body, with each of us belonging to the others. 6 But we have gifts that differ and which are meant to be used according to the grace that has been given to us. If your gift is prophecy, use it to the extent of your trust; 7 if it is serving, use it to serve; if you are a teacher, use your gift in teaching; 8 if you are a counselor, use your gift to comfort and exhort; if you are someone who gives, do it simply and generously; if you are in a position of leadership, lead with diligence and zeal; if you are one who does acts of mercy, do them cheerfully.
9 Don’t let love be a mere outward show. Recoil from what is evil, and cling to what is good. 10 Love each other devotedly and with brotherly love; and set examples for each other in showing respect. 11 Don’t be lazy when hard work is needed, but serve the Lord with spiritual fervor. 12 Rejoice in your hope, be patient in your troubles, and continue steadfastly in prayer. 13 Share what you have with God’s people, and practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you — bless them, don’t curse them! 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be sensitive to each other’s needs — don’t think yourselves better than others, but make humble people your friends. Don’t be conceited. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but try to do what everyone regards as good. 18 If possible, and to the extent that it depends on you, live in peace with all people. 19 Never seek revenge, my friends; instead, leave that to God’s anger; for in the Tanakh it is written,
“Adonai says, ‘Vengeance is my responsibility; I will repay.’”[a]
20 On the contrary,
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
For by doing this, you will heap
fiery coals [of shame] on his head.”[b]
21 Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.
This is from Prophecy 105, YAHUVEH said to put this up on all Prophecies from now on: I warned you a long time ago Elisabeth (Elisheva) not to name this Ministry after a man or a woman even before there was a Ministry. I put it in your spirit for none of this has been done by your hand, none of this has come forth from your mouth. It is from the Mouth of YAHUVEH that has given birth. It is from the Mouth of YAHUSHUA your MASHIACH that has given birth. It is from the Mouth of the RUACH ha KODESH your IMMAYAH that has given birth. If it had only been by your hand it would have failed long ago. It is by the SHKHINYAH GLORY’S Wind that blows across this earth, the Holy Wind of Revival, it is not by your breath or it would have failed. (Isaiah 42:8)

Torah Portion: Suffering Of Israelites Under Bondage
Prophecy 115 Beware of The Totalitarian Dictatorship!
Beware of this Totalitarian dictatorship, for they will leave you with no choices. They take away the freedom of your speech. They will take away any airwaves that would teach the truth. They will muzzle the true newscasters that want to warn what the Government’s are doing. They will censor all that is written.
America, you have a ‘president of the United States’ whose hero is Hitler. He seeks the same power. He has the same Messianic (MESSIAH) complex, [he] sees himself as the Messiah. He is a Totalitarian Dictator in his heart. He promised you change, that is the platform he ran for office on. I warned you through the Holy Prophecies that the change would not be for good but for evil.
Now you hang your heads and shake your heads in amazement for what I have prophesied has come to pass and now you have the worst president that has ever been elected president. I did not put him there. It was your choice. I, YAHUVEH, but just allowed. For those of you who cast your vote for him, hang your head in shame – for I hold you accountable if you are not speaking forth and rebuking what you have done and the evil has just begun.
In America you will end up here if you don’t obey the government!
No longer is America ‘the land of the free and the brave’. There is not one thing that you have not compromised as sin [that now] is legalized. Once you stood for morality. Once you rebuked other Nations that tortured. Now you are the torturers. Once you [held] up the Geneva Convention. Now you mock it. Anything goes in America. The world looks on America and watches before its eyes to (as) those who peacefully protest are beaten and locked up. How America’s own president Barack Hussein Obama runs a socialist agenda –where once America stood against socialism, communism. Now they have a president who shrugs his shoulders and says, “So what’s wrong with communism?”
Oh America what you have done. Your Forefathers would weep for you. The freedom that you fought so hard for—you let a minority strip from you. Your children now are indoctrinated in schools to sing songs of praise to Barack Hussein Obama. Your children now are indoctrinated in schools to accept the lifestyles of the homosexuals and they are taught “what’s wrong with it?” Your children are now taught in schools there’s no such thing as a Creator, it was all evolution.
I warned you through this Holy Prophet, “get your kid’s out of the dens of the anti-christ”, how many years ago? For I do nothing without first revealing it to the Prophets. I warn before the judgments come.
I warned you Canada, do not follow in your sister America’s footsteps and now you walk in unison.
These are the Words I have to speak on this Yom Kippur. You are going to see things you’d rather not see, you will hear things you will not be able to believe—for satan’s servants now run rampant. There is no church, there is no organization, there is no business, there is no synagogue, there is no government—where satans servants are not found.
Torah Portion: Like Moses, Like YAHUSHUA
Prophecy 48 Yisrael Your Enemies Seek To Make You A Scapegoat!
I, HaShem Adonai, and YAHUSHUA have a special love for Yisrael like no other land for MY Beloved Son YAHUSHUA, poured HIS Blood out on that soil. No where else in the world was MY Son’s physical Blood poured forth, only in Jerusalem. No other planet needs a Savior but earth, where satan was cast down from Heaven when he rebelled. My son YAHUSHUA was declared King of the Jews even words nailed atop of that cross. What was spoken and written in mockery was really MY Prophecy foretold thousands of years ago before the birth of YAHUSHUA on earth. Even before the sin of Adam and Eve, I knew what would happen before it happened. “I AM” is the Elohim of all knowledge and “I AM” is the Elohim of time. “I AM” truly is Father Time. In MY eyes there is no beginning or end.
After the fall of Adam and Eve, mankind needed a redeemer, for all I could see was your sins ever before ME. I destroyed the world with a flood because of sin. But not all perished, for Noah and his family had favor with ME, so I used them to repopulate the earth. Blood was spilled at the first murder from Adam and Eve’s seed, Cain slew Abel. It took a Blood Sacrifice to wash away the blood on Cain’s hands. Adam and Eve’s son was killed and their other son was the murderer. Satan had again deceived the seed of Adam and Eve because of the original sin of rebellion when Adam and Eve ate from the tree they were forbidden to eat from. Animal blood sacrifices were just a shadow of what was to come in MY timing. A more perfect unblemished sacrificial lamb that I love and who loves you, MY own Son YAHUSHUA. How quickly you forget how many miracles “I AM” did through this Prophet that was Prophesied in all your Holy Scriptures. It was not the majority that shouted “Crucify him”. It was a plan well orchestrated by the religious and political systems.
Those that LOVE YAHUSHUA, were ministered to by HIM, HE fed tens of thousands with only a few fish and loaves of bread and HE had multitudes sing Hosannah to the King. They did not shout ‘Crucify him,’ as many were taught, and crowds so large that followed HIM everywhere HE went. How many were healed, delivered, raised from the dead? Scriptures do not say it all, but these voices went unheeded. Multitudes of these miracles were documented and used against HIM in the mockery of a trial. Ask yourself, if YAHUSHUA is not MY Son, by what power did he do these miracles? Would satan bless people in such a way as to lead them to do good and obey the Elohim of Creation? Even your own scribes and rabbi’s could find no fault in him except he dared heal and do miracles on the Sabbath Day. Do you not realize the political system feared such a good King to be in control and the religious system feared for the rabbi’s had no such healing, delivering and resurrection power? Jealously, fear, covetness and greed were the prime reasons MY Son was condemned by man.
It was MY good plan for your sakes I allowed this to take place, at any time YAHUSHUA, could have called 10 legions of angels to come and fight and no man would have been left alive and none reading this would be saved from their sins. All reading this would have been doomed to pay the price for their own sins. I, YAHUSHUA, became your sacrificial lamb, for it was the plan of HaShem Adonai, asking ME to take your place, for your sins, requiring a Blood atonement of Holy Sinless Blood so you could be forgiven and reunited with the Elohim of your Creation and live in Heaven with us. I, YAHUSHUA, am the one spoken of in ISAIAH 53. Do not let your unholy rabbi’s lie to you any longer. Yisrael did not pay the price I have paid. How could Yisrael be the one spoken of in Isaiah 53?
.. Ask yourselves, ‘How long before you believe what your forefathers like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Noah, Daniel, Joseph, Joshua and Elijah, do I have to name them all? You know the Torah and Tanakh, then why do you only recite it and not believe in faith as the Elohim of your creation delivered Yisrael before “I AM” can and will do it again. Oh Yisrael, you are and have been as a disobedient child, full of rebellion, doing things your way and not “I AM’s” way. You know the Torah, and Tanakh, how long before you believe what you teach and recite? How long before you fall on your knees and ask HaShem Adonai to intervene in your wars? When will you admit that the enemies are too great for you and humble yourself before HaShem Adonai so I will take vengeance for you? Stop trying to take vengeance yourself. Get back to praying to the Elohim of your forefathers. Get back to praising ME in Psalms before you go into battle.
“I AM” has blessed Yisrael with hidden treasures. Gold and silver, oil, finest of fruits and vegetables, roses that bloom in the desert, gems you know not of. I have blessed Yisrael, with knowledge and inventions, that come nowhere but Elohim inspired. Your soil has the blood of the martyrs that cries out. When you hunger, realize it is your mortal body, hungering for Holiness. For although you are called the Holy Land you have allowed your land to be defiled with the sins of this world. Repent from the abominations done in the presence of the Name of HaShem Adonai who gave the laws to Moses and all of Yisrael and thus the world.
I have not changed, “I AM” the same today, yesterday, and forever! Walk in the shoes of your forefathers, in faith listen to those I am raising up and speaking through. I am still speaking forth through MY Apostles and Prophets, before judgment comes. I speak in dreams, revelations, visions and prophecies but how many in Yisrael or in the world are listening? For those with deaf ears, either now is not the time for your ears to be opened, for there is a set time and season, or you are like the evil pharaoh and your ears are opened and then closed again, and will end up 7 times deafer and cold hearted, if you don’t repent. Your fate will be like the evil pharaoh, but for MY Children I shall open the Red Sea again and run to the mountains and I shall hide you in the shelter of MY wings.
Call upon MY Name in the Name of YAHUSHUA, and I shall answer you and deliver you. Grieve not MY RUACH ha KODESH, (Holy Spirit) for “I AM” shall not always strive with mankind. When you deny YAHUSHUA, you deny one of your own, you deny HIS Father whom you call HaShem Adonai. YAHUSHUA, was born from a Jewish Holy virgin handmaiden, and what she and Joseph spoke was the truth. Be not deceived for those that seek to make her an Elohim. She even called YAHUSHUA Lord! Respect and love her for the price she paid as a mother. She also needed a Savior for none was perfect, not even YAHUSHUA’s mother and Joseph his earthly father.
YAHUSHUA said, “I came not to destroy the law of MY Father, but to fulfill it.” Honor the Sabbath Day and keep it Holy was written by the finger of Elohim. You must study and show thyself approved but beware of the different versions of the truth, some are truth and some are corrupted versions to take away the Jewishness of YAHUSHUA and even changed MY Commandments to line up with the words of man and not the words spoken through MY Prophets and Disciples. Whatever doesn’t line up with the Torah and Tanakh seek ME and see if man hasn’t changed the original words, for wicked leaders have tried to corrupt the Holy Scriptures. There is a pure translation, seek ME and ask of ME and I shall show you the purest translation the way it was originally written.
Torah Portion: Like Israel, Like Us
Prophecy 63 Oh Yisrael Where Is Your Blood Sacrifice!
Oh Israel, Oh how I weep. Yes, I, YAHUVEH, Creator of all, Creator of even time itself. I weep for I have poured out MY love, poured out MY mercy, given MY very best, MY Beloved Son YAHUSHUA. I, YAHUVEH, gave YAHUSHUA who poured out HIS Blood to redeem the sins of Adam and Eve. Oh Israel, the Blood of YAHUSHUA still saturates your soil. Why do you think satan hates you? Why do you think he hates you more than any people or any nation? Because I, YAHUVEH, came to you in the flesh through MY Son YAHUSHUA, MY Beloved Son.
Abraham only thought he had to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham only had to experience that feeling of great sorrow and grief as he held a dagger above his beloved son thinking there would be no ram to offer up as a sacrifice, as a blood sacrifice. But in faith he Abraham ready to slay his son Isaacbelieved that I, YAHUVEH, would raise up Isaac from the dead if need be, just as I did MY Son YAHUSHUA. It is because of who I, YAHUVEH, am. Because of who I am, because of MY love that has no beginning nor end for those called MY Children and only those who are called MY Children are those calling out to ME in the Name of MY Son YAHUSHUA. Only I stopped Abraham from sacrificing his son Isaac. I provided a ram hidden from Abraham’s view until the right time.
Abraham was not perfect. Neither was Isaac. Israel pays the price of Abraham’s sin that brought forth Ishmael and the seed of Ishmael. Abraham needed a blood sacrifice also. It was the ram that was symbolized that was caught in the thicket. This symbolized MY Beloved Son YAHUSHUA, the only Lamb of YAHUVEH, the perfect Lamb without sin or spot or blemish. The ram was caught in the thicket. MY Beloved Son YAHUSHUA cried out to ME. HE [was] also caught in the thicket of MY will. “Father, if it all be possible, take this cup from ME, but not as I will, but as YOUR will be done.” YAHUSHUA was symbolized as that ram, as that blood sacrifice that Abraham had that day which took Isaac’s place.
YAHUSHUA’s Blood sacrifice is the only human sacrifice that is Holy enough to wash away the sins of all mankind. If mankind will but accept and obey this new Blood Covenant I gave at Calvary through MY Beloved Son YAHUSHUA, this is MY promise to MY faithful children who love YAHUSHUA and accept this new Blood Covenant. As I didn’t leave MY Beloved Son in the tomb, I raised Him from the dead and He ascended into Heaven, so will I do the same for you. All MY Children have to do is receive, believe, love and try your best to obey MY Commandments. Is this so hard?
I speak to those who refuse MY Son YAHUSHUA as MESSIAH. Where is your blood sacrifice? All know there must be a blood sacrifice for the remission of sins. What animal is perfect? What human? None, except MY Beloved Son YAHUSHUA’s. I, YAHUVEH, cancelled the old blood covenant to give mankind a better blood covenant. This is the only way I can forgive your sins. There is no other way to MY throne, for ME to answer your prayers, except through the name YAHUSHUA, through HIS shed Blood at Calvary for the remission of your sins. There is no other intercessor before ME other than MY Son YAHUSHUA. Mohammed can’t save you. Calling upon Abraham can’t save you. Allah can’t save you. Only calling upon the name YAHUSHUA will save you. Study the Torah as I have spoken before through this handmaiden. Those that think keeping the Torah alone will save them must realize all have sinned and fell short of MY Glory [Romans 3:23]. Breaking one commandment is the same as breaking all the commandments. You need a Savior. YAHUSHUA is that Savior. Those that refuse to accept YAHUSHUA as their Lord and Savior, the MESSIAH of all mankind, will not be judged by YAHUSHUA, but will instead stand before Moses who will open the Book of Judgment without mercy. For he warned Israel there would be a new covenant coming, a new Blood Covenant. He knew that it could not appease MY wrath. This was only temporary for the animal sacrifices.
Oh Israel, I sent the new Blood Covenant to be born on your own soil. I did miracles through the Name of YAHUSHUA. I used Him to be a human sacrifice, a human blood sacrifice, the only perfect blood atonement for sin. And I arose HIM from the dead in the soil of Israel.
On this day of Yom Kippur, 2002, I speak unto Israel and I tell them I hear your prayers of repentance, asking for MY forgiveness. I see your fasting. I feel your fear as you realize your sins are a stench to MY nostrils. Oh Israel, you know “I AM” Adonai and I will judge you for the works of your flesh. Oh Israel, you know there is no blood sacrifice. You long to build that temple with walls so you can once again do sacrifices of animals for the remission of sins, where your high priest can cry aloud for mercy. Yet, you refuse to receive the gift I gaDESve you, a temple without walls filled with the RUACH ha KOH, filled with MY love and mercy, MY miracles and MY judgment. A temple built not with human hands, a perfect, holy, sinless temple. His Name is YAHUSHUA. MY Name [YAH] is contained in HIS Name. The power is in HIS Sacred Name, the power is in OUR Sacred NameS.
“These are the names [ve’eleh shemot] of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family.” (Exodus 1:1)
In last week’s Torah portion -Parasha, the first of the five books of Moses, Genesis –Bereisheet—In the Beginning, ended with the deaths of Jacob and Joseph.
This week, we begin the second book of the Torah, Exodus, called Shemot in Hebrew, which means names.
This Parasha describes the suffering of the Israelites under bondage to the Egyptians, the birth of Moses and his miraculous salvation from out of the Nile River. It also describes his calling to deliver Israel and his encounter with Pharaoh.
Like MOSES, Like YAHUSHUA
“The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy in all; Joseph was already in Egypt.” (Exodus 1:5)
Although only 70 descendants of Jacob -whom God renamed Israel came into the Land of Egypt at Joseph’s invitation, they soon multiplied into such a great and mighty people that the new pharaoh, who did not know Joseph, felt threatened by them. He feared that the Israelites might join Egypt’s enemies in battles against them.
“The Israelites were exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them.” (Exodus 1:7)
To counter the growing strength of the Israelites, the Egyptians forced them into bitter labor, building store cities for Pharaoh and working the fields.
When they continued to multiply, Pharaoh ordered the Hebrew midwives to kill all newborn males. But at least two, Shifrah and Puah, did not comply. ELOHIM, therefore, supernaturally protected their lives, blessing them with families and multiplying the Israelites even more (Exodus 1:16–21).
So Pharaoh turned to the Egyptians, commanding them to throw all male newborn Hebrews into the Nile River (Exodus 1:22).
The Levite parents of Moses had such great faith that, in order to save their son, they defied Pharaoh’s order and hid him for the first few months of his life.
But babies grow and, eventually, he could no longer be hidden, so they put him in a basket and set him afloat on the Nile among the reeds.
Even in this desperate circumstance, the protective hand of ELOHIM was on this boy of destiny. Pharaoh’s daughter spotted the basket. When she saw the Hebrew baby inside, she had pity on him and took him as her own.
Instead of drowning in the Nile or dying at the hands of the Egyptians as the other newborn boys did, Moses was raised in Pharaoh’s palace as a prince of Egypt.
This dramatic account of the infant Moses parallels the life of the infant YAHUSHUA, who was sentenced to death by the order of King Herod, among all the other Jewish male infants in Bethlehem.
“When Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.” (Matthew 2:16)
Just as Moses was saved by his mother, so was YAHUSHUA saved by the obedience and faith of His earthly father, Joseph, who was warned in a dream to flee to Egypt.
“Now when they had gone, behold, an angel of the ELOHIM appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.’ So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt.” (Matthew 2:13–14)
What irony that the very place of danger and death for the Hebrew babies in the days of Moses became a place of refuge for YAHUSHUA when He was but a baby!
Egyptian Prince Moses Becomes a Shepherd
Because Pharaoh’s daughter drew the baby from the Nile, she called him Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) from the word moshech, meaning pull or draw.
Moses grew up in the royal Egyptian palace, but it seems that the burdens of his fellow Israelites troubled him.
One day, he saw an Egyptian slave master beating a Hebrew. Even as a young man, Moses felt the calling to deliver his people, but he stepped ahead of YAH’s timing.
In the process of defending this Israelite slave, Moses killed the Egyptian and fled to Midian to escape Pharaoh’s death decree over him. (Exodus 2:15)
Again in Midian, Moses expressed his calling as a deliverer by saving the daughters of the Priest of Midian who had come to the well where he sat. They wanted to draw water for their flock, but shepherds tried to drive them away. Moses intervened and watered their flocks for them.
The Priest of Midian welcomed Moses to live with him and even gave Moses his daughter, Zipporah, as a wife.
Moses spent the next 40 years shepherding sheep in the land of Midian, a period of time that YAH used to prepare him to shepherd His people Israel out of Egypt.
Only when the children of Israel cried out to ELOHIM, did the time come for ELOHIM to make His move: “And YAH heard their groaning, and YAH remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.” (Exodus 2:24)
The Angel of ELOHIM appeared to Moses from out of the flame of a bush that burned but was not consumed.
From the midst of this burning bush at the foot of Mount Sinai, YAH told Moses He had heard the cries of His People and was sending Moses back to Pharaoh in His name and His power on His behalf.
By this point, this prince of Egypt had been so humbled by his lengthy wilderness experience that he seemed to lack confidence when it came to his role as a leader of a nation.
First, Moses asked for the name of the One sending him.
YAH answered with His name, Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh—אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה. Widely translated as I Am That I Am, the Hebrew grammatical form is actually in the future tense.
Therefore, YAH’s name is more accurately translated as I Will Be What I Will Be.
The message to Moses is perhaps that YAH can look after the details of the future. He will be to us whoever and whatever He chooses to be—father, friend, comforter, counselor, or even disciplinarian. We can trust in YAH’s infinite wisdom to be who we need in our lives at each moment in time.
Even with this assurance, Moses still feels unqualified for the task, especially since he is slow in speech. He begs YAH to send someone else; therefore, He allowed Aaron, Moses’ brother, to accompany him and act as Moses’ spokesperson.
Yet, it is Moses to whom YAH first revealed His personal name in Scripture.
Moses grabbed hold of the trust placed in him and delivered a command to Pharaoh with the full authority of I AM: “Thus says the LORD, ‘Israel is My firstborn son, and I say to you, “Let my son go that he may serve Me.”’” (Exodus 4:22–23)
Like Israel, Like Us
There is much we can take from this story of Moses’ progression in becoming a leader.
He was not ready for leadership overnight. Likewise, we may understand that we have a calling on our lives, and this might become evident time and time again. Still, we must wait for that time when the LORD chooses to release us into the fullness of our destiny.
As well, we might also feel incapable of accomplishing anything for YAH, having lost much of our self-confidence through the trials and tribulations of life.
Whatever our experience, it still remains true that submitting to GOD’s presence and following His direction is all we need to fulfill the destiny He has assigned to us.
We can also learn from the suffering of the Israelites. Despite the tyranny forced on them by the Egyptians, the People of Israel still grew mighty in number.
Oppressive circumstances cannot prevent YAH from carrying out His purposes and fulfilling His promises.
We might suffer under some sort of bondage or pain for what seems like a very long time, but we can rest assured that YAH hears our cries.
He remembers the covenant we have with Him through our Messiah YAHUSHUA, which provides a way out of our spiritual bondage and into our inheritance—if only we accept it.
Though YAH is true to His promises, we still need to keep crying out to Him for deliverance and waiting in faith and hopeful expectation to move on our behalf in our spiritual and our earthly afflictions.
ELOHIM is not deaf, nor aloof to our suffering. His arm is not too short to save: “The righteous cry out, and YAHUVEH hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17)
Let My People Go
Though Moses entered Egypt and delivered YAH’s message to Pharaoh, nothing changed immediately.
Pharaoh refused to let the Hebrews go.
Moses might have felt like he failed ELOHIM, but YAH has a greater plan for even our failures, and they end in glorifying His name.
Through plagues and judgments -called makot in Hebrew, which can also mean beatings, YAH proved His position as the One True GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and that the gods of the Egyptians had no power over Him.
Through these judgments, we also see that whatever a nation or even an individual does to Israel, for good or for evil, ELOHIM will return it unto them:
“For the day of YAHUVEH upon all the nations is near; as you have done, it shall be done to you; your reprisal shall return upon your own head.” (Obadiah 1:15; see also Genesis 12:3)
Parasha Shemot does not end with a mighty deliverance but, rather, with the situation becoming worse—if that were even possible. Pharaoh made the Israelites’ labor more difficult by demanding that they find their own straw while also maintaining the same quota of production (Exodus 5:18).
In their bitterness, the Hebrew people turned on Moses and Aaron. Moses responded by turning to ELOHIM. With raw honesty, Moses asked why He had not delivered His people as He promised.
“ELOHIM, why have You brought trouble on this people? Why is it You have sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done evil to this people; neither have You delivered Your people at all.” (Exodus 5:22–23)
We might also feel this way when it seems we are doing what GOD has asked us to do, and things get worse, not better.
How did YAH respond to Moses?
“Then YAHUVEH said to Moses, ‘Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land.’” (Exodus 6:1)
Sometimes, when YAH is preparing to do something great and mighty in our lives, the situation can worsen for a time. As we move toward our destiny, pharaoh represents those who oppress us—even Satan, the spiritual enemy of our souls, who resists our freedom with all his might.
In such circumstances, we should not give up our faith, for in due time we will see YAH mighty hand and outstretched arm deliver us in His perfect way and time.
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” (Romans 12:12)
In these last days as Israel is beset with those who desire to destroy her, it may seem to them that peace and deliverance is lost.
“In this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written: ‘The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.'” (Romans 11:26)
“Hear the word of YAHUVEH, you nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands: ‘He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over His flock like a shepherd.'” (Jeremiah 31:10)
